What People Say About Us

“Ecomonitor have provided us with detailed weekly analysis of our energy consumption in a very clear and easy to understand report. If we have any queries on the information or reason for trends within the reports they are always available to talk it through with us. We are now starting to make positive progress in tracking and controlling both our consumption and our costs as well as driving down our carbon footprint in line with our ISO140001 commitments.”

Kevin Prone, Head of Operations & Service Delivery, Nowcomm

"Working with Eco-monitor has already delivered significant results to our business. They have provided real expertise on how we can reduce our exposure to increasing energy costs and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to become more energy efficient."

Metering & Monitoring Solutions

Smart Metering – Knowledge Is Power.

Good metering practice is a powerful tool and is the foundation of an effective energy management strategy!

The first stage of any effective energy efficiency process is to ensure that you either replace your old energy meters with new smart metering technology, or to have your existing smart metering technology assessed. This will ensure that you are getting the most up to date and relevant data possible and that you are capitalising on all the benefits that smart meters can deliver.

When it comes to the metering of electricity, gas and water, Eco-monitor can provide you with the most relevant, flexible and cost effective solutions that are aligned with your energy efficiency goals.

When it comes to monitoring the consumption from these sources, the Eco-monitor Process delivers a first class and comprehensive end- to- end service that includes surveying, installation, commissioning and servicing.

Smart Meters

What Smart Meters provide you with;

  • Automatic meter readings of your energy and water use.
  • Accurate documentation of electricity, gas and water consumption.

Real time visibility of when and how much electricity, gas and water is being consumed.

The benefits of Smart Metering

  • No more estimated bills.
  • Reduction in costs and carbon emissions.
  • Profiles of energy uses at critical times of the day, week , month and year.
  • Taking corrective action to reduce areas of high consumption.
  • Results of corrective action can be seen immediately.
  • Timely and detailed information leads to better decisions.
  • Enhances environmental credentials.

Using the data we collect from Smart Meters, our experienced energy analysts create individual weekly reports highlighting consumption profiles, along with comparisons and trends. Reports alone however do not always initiate actions and that is why we have regular dialogue with our clients.

Eco-monitor Energy Management can tell you how we use the visibility of data to create the continuous cycle of reduction and control of energy.

Sub Meters

Metering the total energy used in a building is important, but it does not show how energy consumption is distributed across areas or applications such as;

  • Multi –unit sites.
  • Floor levels in multi storey buildings.
  • By tenant, particularly useful when accurate tenant billing is required.
  • Departments within businesses.
  • Production facilities and individual production lines.
  • By system, including Heating, Cooling, Lighting and Refrigeration.

Installing sub-metering to measure energy use in selected areas or by specific machinery will provide a considerably better understanding of where energy is used and where there is scope for making savings. Also, for new non-domestic buildings, sub-metering is laid out in Part L2 of The Building Regulations and requires at least 90% of each incoming energy source to be accounted for through sub-metering. This regulation has been designed with the view that having sub-metering will greatly enhance effective energy management.

The benefits of Sub-Metering through Eco-monitor are;

  • Half hourly data for specific areas/zones/equipment.
  • Reduction of costs and carbon emissions.
  • Scope for savings can be greatly enhanced through detailed visibility.
  • Accurate, timely and cost effective tenant billing.
  • Identifies performance improvement in equipment.
  • Enhances preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Enables quick response times to failures of system/equipment components.
  • Fact based decisions on the installation of energy efficient equipment.
  • Enhances the setting of clearly defined and credible environmental goals.

Using the data we collect form sub-meters, our experienced energy analysts create individual weekly reports highlighting consumption profiles, along with comparisons and trends. Reports alone however do not always initiate actions and that is why we have regular dialogue with our clients. To support this a comprehensive monthly executive report is produced and presented face to face, providing analysis and insights into the monthly and annual trends as well as review of progress against agreed targets.

Eco-monitor Energy Management can tell you how we use the visibility of data to create the continuous cycle of reduction and control of energy.

Voltage and Power Factor Monitoring

The available capacity of a building is the amount of electricity that the utility company makes available. This authorised supply capacity is measured in Kilovolt Amperes (kVA) and is charged on a monthly basis. If a business consumes more electricity than its authorised supply capacity there will be Power Factor charges.

Over time, changes in loads to a building’s power system can result in the gradual degradation of electrical and electronic components. Adding new pieces of equipment, increasing output or component changes can all have an effect on the load demands of the power system. Un-monitored, these changes can cause the gradual degradation of the electronic components on the power system that can result in damage to equipment and even the power system itself.

Eco-monitor’s Active Voltage and Power Factor Monitoring System is included when we install our sub-metering system. This collects power quality and harmonics data on your power system in real time and through our close monitoring we can alert you to any spikes or additional strains on the power system.

Using this data we can isolate the source of the disturbance and implement the appropriate solution to mitigate the problem. We set the system to automatically alarm if your power factor comes within an agreed percentage of your capacity.

The benefits of Voltage and Power Factor Monitoring through Eco-monitor are;

  • Cost savings.
  • Immediate verification of power system changes.
  • Immediate action to rectify problems.
  • Better voltage quality over time.
  • Enhanced system reliability and power quality history.
  • Improve operational efficiency.
  • Support with preventative maintenance.
